What is Generative AI?

GenAI, short for Generative Artificial Intelligence, is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that refers to creating or generating new and original content based on patterns and knowledge learned from large datasets during training. In practice, GenAI applications cover a larger scope than strict content generation as it encompasses all applications powered by foundation models.  A foundation model is a large model that is trained on a vast corpus of data. It recognizes, predicts, generates, text, images, audio, videos and more. It is capable of doing many tasks out-of-the-box with a little to no additional training. One of the most notable field of GenAI applications is natural language processing, where models are capable of generating human-like text, answering questions, or even completing sentences and paragraphs. These models can be used for various tasks, including chatbots, content generation, language translation, and more.
Valeo must get the best of what this new AI is already offering, and be ready for what is coming next, while protecting  its assets and its values

Ideas selection criteria

These three criteria collectively form the foundation for evaluating your submissions in this challenge. Successful proposals should not only showcase innovative thinking but also demonstrate a clear understanding of industry challenges, a compelling value proposition, and a feasible path toward implementation.

Response to a business need

This criterion focuses on how well your proposal addresses specific challenges or fulfills unmet needs within the automotive sector. Valeo is interested in solutions that directly target industry problems or market demands. Your project should clearly articulate the problem or need it aims to solve, and it will be evaluated based on the relevance and significance of this problem or need in the context of the automotive industry. The more effectively your innovation responds to these challenges or needs, the higher your score in this category.

Value proposition / innovation part

This criterion assesses the uniqueness and impact of your innovation. It evaluates how your solution offers a distinct value proposition compared to existing solutions in the automotive industry.  We seek ideas that are not only innovative but also demonstrate the potential to disrupt and revolutionize the field. Consideration is given to the scalability, market potential, and the extent to which your innovation aligns with Valeo's vision for the future of automotive technology.

Technical Feasibility

Technical feasibility assesses the practicality and viability of implementing your innovation. We recognize that groundbreaking ideas must also be achievable. The jury will evaluate the technical feasibility of your proposal, considering factors like the availability of required resources, the maturity of the technology, and the potential hurdles to implementation. A well-detailed plan demonstrating how your innovation can be technically realized and integrated into the automotive landscape will be essential to score highly in this category.

A prestigious Jury

We gathered prominent industry experts on various sector skill development and the impact of new technologies, such as generative AI, to review Challenge applications.
